Hi,

I am originally from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

I lived for a while in Japan and published a bilingual pocket guide for all the vegan restaurants in Japan. (two editions.)

After that I moved to Bangkok in Thailand and opened a vegan café. (reviews here)

For now I live in the North East of Thailand in Udon Thani. I continue to cook and develop new dishes like sushi with new Thai flavors. I like simple and recognizable dishes made with fresh and quality ingredients. My motto is cooking starts with choosing the right fresh and quality ingredients.
Besides that i write for the bilingual Hong Kong vegan magazine GoVeg.

My aspiration is to open a modest vegan restaurant in Udon Thani that offers tasty plant based dishes that appeal to non veg health minded Thai people, for a nice price in a nice atmosphere, with a trendy eco theme or sports theme.
Vegan cakes and other fresh bakery products (no margarine, no white sugars, partly whole wheat flour) were very popular with my Thai non vegan customers in Bangkok and so will be a part of the new menu.

This year I started with being a Vegan Runner in Prajak Park, Udon Thani. This park has a large community of health minded Thai people doing yoga, exercise, bicycling, and jogging. With my vegan running I show that a plant based vegan diet is healthy.

Besides veganism, my interests include reading books (KINOKUNIYA in Tokyo is my absolute favorite bookshop!), snorkel diving (personal depth record is 24 meters.) and the Japanese martial art Aikido (I hold first Dan which I obtained in the Vriesman dojo in Amsterdam.)
